Festival
- high country spring arts
We
are well into the planning of the Festival and some exciting
developments are coming into play with new events being
included on a daily basis. This is always the case with
creative people, someone gets inspired and ...there is more
art... more musicians...more performers. FAB!
The
Spring Arts exhibitions entry date has been extended for
a couple of weeks, you now have until Friday 28th September
to get your entries in.
There
is a 'fringe' program in the two weeks leading up to the
Festival which includes a writers festival, a two day basket
making workshop, a fashion parade and a play 'California
Suite'.
Another
new development is 'Three Faces', Mansfield
Portrait Art Prize. This inaugural event will showcase and
kick start an exposure of our Mansfield district portrait
artists. It runs along the lines of what Rolf Harris did
and the prize of $2000 to the winning artist with the artwork
then acquired by the sponsor the Mansfield Shire Council,
as part of their art collection, will ensure this as a prestigious
prize for all participating artists.
All Mansfield district portrait artists are urged to put
in an expression of interest by October 7th to admin@artsmansfield.com
or call Arts Council of Mansfield organiser Isabel Appleby
on 0408 729 355 for more information or check out the website.
"Horse
Dreaming - The essence of spirit, heart and nature"
is one of the categories in the Spring Arts exhibitions.
A lot of people have asked me if they have to
do an image of a horse...the answer is NO.
This category is about exploring your sense of nature and
spirit, by all means use a horse to demonstrate that, but
it could just as well be anything that captures the spirit.
This category is designed to engage people working in any
medium, but the image required for the exhibition is a black
and white print.
We anticipate this category will encourage those working
in the digital field, either as photographers or digital
artists... or if you have painted a picture or made a sculpture
you could take a photograph or scan of that work and submit
the print as your entry. You can put the original work into
another category and double your chance of selling and winning.
Cheers,
Karen
